Naming Ceremony of New Build STH CHIBA
After 5 days holiday in Japan, we had 2 more days for turn-over and familiarization to the new build ship STH Chiba from Sea Trade Holdings and managed by Columbia Shipmanagement – Cyprus. We ask how, why and when every details of equipment’s on-board from the shipyard foreman and workers in order for us to continue and sail the ship safety. The Crews compose of 16 Filipino, 1 Romanian, 1 Ukrainian and 1 Lithuanian and this is the start to make new friends for the rest of our 9 months contract.
January 2017 is the planned naming ceremony of the ship, everything set-up and ready to sail even though we are not totally prepared and we know that plenty to setup more when we are in the middle of the ocean. Officials, Owners and other guest arrived from the bus and directly walk to the scaffolding stage prepared by the Japanese to start immediately the program. Only took 5 minutes after the naming ceremony and they came on-board to see inside their ship before sailing for their business.
After the proper turn-over and ceremony and cold weather at Chiba, we sailed directly to our maiden voyage Albany, Australia.
