Europa Point Lighthouse, Gibraltar
Trinity Lighthouse or the Lighthouse at Europa Point is one of the three attractions and most well known of Gibraltar which must be first in your plan list.
It’s my first time to visit closely (even though not in-land) the Europa Point Lighthouse located in Gibraltar which under the territory of British. We stop-by in the area near the Algeciras to re-supply foods and fuel and it’s my opportunity to capture the moment while have time. The place was nice view, especially the mountain tip and the lighthouse.
Europa Point Lighthouse remains at the southernmost purpose of Gibraltar. Arranged at the door between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean it fills in as landfall and way-point for vessels going through the Strait. Obligation regarding the beacon was vested in Trinity House by an Act of Parliament of 1838 and under the Merchant Shipping Act 1894 the Corporation turned into the General Lighthouse Authority for Gibraltar.
Europa Point was first lit in 1841 and at first a settled light was shown by a solitary wick oil light expanded by a dioptric settled focal point and catoptric mirrors. In 1864 an enhanced light was shown, a Chance Brothers four wick burner with new focal point and a red circular segment fused to cover the Pearl Rock, a risky gathering of zenith shakes on the western side of the passageway to Gibraltar Bay. In 1875 the light was enhanced again with a four wick mineral oil burner introduced.

The opening of a more proper lighthouse, designed to offer better and more safe navigation of the waters made it far easier for the sailors to navigate what could be a treacherous stretch of waterway.
The Lighthouse at Europa point provided a light that was was so much brighter and far higher raised than that of the chapel, so it did of course replace that first beacon.
The Trinity Light house, the Lighthouse at Europa Point began as a way to save lives and property, and to safeguard the travelers of the area, and continues to do so, yet it has evolved also to be one of the main tourist attractions of Gibraltar, has offered a means to navigate the area, to the seafarers of Gibraltar for more than a hundred years. While you’re in Gibraltar, make sure that you navigate up to Europa Point and take a look at the Lighthouse of Europa Point.
