Space Needle Adventure
My second contract was a large container vessel, chartered by big company from Hong-Kong, travels from Asia to America and Canada. From Japan to Seattle in USA, it’s very hard to wake up every morning since we need to adjust the time compared to our time zone location, 1 hour advance every night till we arrived. Since it’s my 1 month onboard, I don’t have enough money to buy anything in COSTCO mart when other crew and I took the shore-leave in the city. When the other crew bought their things, 3rd Officer and I agreed to visit the famous Sky Needle since it’s just a 20 minutes’ walk.
We waited in the long line, pulled out my $50 money in my pocket to pay the ticket but my officer insisted to pay mine that it cost only $17 per head, I’m glad and thankful to him until now. We ran to a line of people in front of the elevator where the travel guides do the trivia about the Sky Needle. When we reached the top, can feel the large, cold wind in our skin even it’s already month of February. You can see the magnificent view of the city, the land, buildings, houses, sea below and the clouds above. But you must walk around in 360 degrees pathway to appreciate the beauty of that place. There is also the coin operated big telescope to view the tiny people walking around across the street, the cars and the ships.
If you love travelling and sightseeing and you will love here. Don’t forget to charge all your cameras and mobile phone because you will regret it if your battery is dead after a few shots, there’s a lot of pictures needed here.
If you are hungry or want a coffee to fight the cold winds, there is a mini bar at the centre where they serve hot and cold beverages, some snacks and salad. Be better get going to souvenir store located at the ground floor to checked where my $50 can afford to remember that day I was there since I know that it’s not enough for a cup of coffee from the bar. In the ground floor, just one block away, you can find the Fiction Science Museum and it can easily find because of the shining metal wall of the building. We don’t have enough time to explore that museum so went back to my colleagues waiting.
When the other crew went to Levis and Victoria’s secret store for their giveaways when signing off to their families, we went back to ship to start making money again.
